Tuscany, is a region in the center of Italy, where Florence is the capital. The exceptionals landscapes of this place are unique and well renowned worlwide, as its tipical vineyard zone, the “Chiantishire”. THE LOCATION The GARAGE STUDIO is located in Arezzo, in the Chianti country, 40 minutes driving from Florence. Beside a State-of-the-Art recording Studio we have two historical rural big houses with eight comfortably bedrooms –each one with private bathroom- that could accomodate up to 16 guests. Three TV rooms, a reading room, a pool room and patios. In the huge 25 acres garden there is also a big swimming pool. The atmosphere, colors and perfumes here are natural creativity boosters that makes The GARAGE STUDIO experience unique, unforgettable and addictive. THE STUDIO The core of The GARAGE STUDIO is a beautiful Solid State Logic SL9000J 56 channels large format custom SuperAnalog® console with Ultimation® moving faders automation. It is unnecessary to describe how this beauty sounds. The main monitors are Genelec1034b system with 7073a subwoofer while the nearfields are a pair of KRK V88 biAmp speakers beside a standard Yamaha NS-10 Studio monitors amped with a NAD. A Tivoli Audio Model One is also available for mono checkings. The DAW recording system is a Pro Tools® 10 HD4 with 192 blue series ADA converters for a total of 32 Ins and 56 analog Outs. A second DAW system used for masters is based on a SoundBlade® Sonic Solution software with Apogee Rosetta 200 ADA converter. This makes possible to print the mix in a standard Hi Resolution format (96KHz @24bit stereo) whatever the original PT session frequency and bit depth is. Both digital systems are clocked by a Lucid Low Jitter masterclock generator/distributor. We have almost all the plug ins in available, including the Waves Mercury Bundle, Brainworx, FabFilter, Sonnox,Sound Toys, PSP and many more. An Universal Audio UAD-2 Quad core card with complete plug ins bundle is also installed. THE OUTBOARD The outboard at the moment includes two DBX 165 A compressors/limiters, Universal Audio 2-1176 dual opto limiter, two Empirical Labs Distressor EL8X limiters, Summit Audio TLA-100 tube limiter, TubeTechCL-1b tube compressor, Avalon 747p stereo compressor/limiter/equalizer, Shadow Hills Dual Vandergraph stereo bus compressor, two Maag EQ4 equalizers, Symetrix DynaSqueeze 488 eight channels brickwall limiter, SSL Stereo Bus compressor custom clone, dual 1073+1176 custom clone, three Dolby 365 w/ Cat. 22 card, Lexicon 480L, 300, PCM 70, Roland SDE 3000 digital delay, Yamaha SPX1000, Eventide H3000 SE, AMS DMX 15-80s stereo delay, Focusrite OctoPre Mk II, Dbx 286 A dual mic pre. We are still looking for more outboard so this list is to be considered provisional. THE MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS There is a Pearl Session Series drumset (22” Bassdrum, Snare, 10”, 12”, 14” toms, 16” floor tom), a Yamaha C3 Grand Piano (6’ 1”) and a Fender Telecaster Custom guitar. THE MICROPHONES The available microphones at the moment are a Neumann U47 fet, two Neumann U87Ai, two Neumann Km184, four Senheiser MD421, four Shure SM57, Shurethe green Bullet, two AKG C-414TL, four AKG C451, AKG D-112, two AKG C567,ElectroVoice PL20, Rhøde NT2 and the Yamaha SubKick. Again, as for the outboard, we are still looking for more different microphones so this list is to be considered provisional. CONCLUSIONS.. We all knows there are so many great recording studios around the world. But there is only one Chianti Country, and it is here, in Tuscany. And there are not so many beautiful housing as at The GARAGE STUDIO. We also believe that people makes difference: the mixing engineer/producer Fabrizio SIMONCIONI -who earned more then 50 platinum and many gold records beside a “Best Album of the Year” nomination at the XIII Latin Grammy working worldwide with the most famous Italian and Latin Artists- is in the house!
