Bi-monthly recording magazine Tape Op has stopped printing its UK/EU edition although the USA edition will remain in print. Founded by recording engineer Larry Crane in 1996 and published by Tape Op Ltd the publication has been running for the past five years under UK and EU publisher Alexander Lawson. Reasons given for the decision were the differences in advertising sales and shipping methods between the UK/EU and the USA; together with the fact that the magazine was launched just before the global recession hit. Group publisher John Baccigaluppi commented “Our editor Larry Crane and I are committed to and believe in print media but it’s an increasingly difficult marketplace to operate within. Alexander Lawson our UK/EU publisher has worked very very hard in recent years to keep the UK edition of Tape Op in print but it’s been a struggle since the beginning. It’s too expensive to ship printed magazines to Europe from the USA.” Alex Lawson explained “From now on an iPad edition (Kindle Android & iPhone versions soon to be released) is available in the Apple App store for a nominal fee. Tape Op Magazine Limited is very much still in business.” Article sourced in part from Audio Pro International
